Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get there?
Visit your travel agent. Costa Rica is one of the most visited countries in Central America, and easy to get to. We will help you with your internal travel

Is it Dangerous?
Costa Rica is one of the most politically stable, and safest countries in South and Central America. That is why its so popular! There is no guarantees - but you are probably safer here than in the USA!

How good is the Spanish course?
We are first and foremost a Spanish language school. Many of our students only come here to learn Spanish. We have an excellent reputation as a teaching school of Spanish. We added the surfing because it is just too good not to have!

I'm a beginner/ expert speaker of Spanish
We have six levels of Spanish classes from beginner to advanced. We will fond the right level for you.

What injections should I have?
We always suggest that you visit you Doctor . Don't worry ... they are always conservative and will recommend a lot (just read what Lonely Planet says you can catch in your country!). In fact very few of our students get sick here

How good is the surf?
Great! We have a surf beach just minutes away - and another couple not much further away. At weekends - if you want to travel - less than an hour away finds you at excellent Playas Dominical and Boca Barranca (a leftie that goes 800 yards with a strong southerly swell). A little further north, if you time it right the beaches, have some of the most perfect waves on the planet. Playa Pavones can break 2-3 times overhead and have rides up to half a mile!

Should I take my board?
We provide boards as part of the program ... but if you have your own then of course BRING IT ... always better to have your own plank between the toes!

Do I need a wetie?
The water is WARM! You really only need some boardies and a rashie  but if you have a light wetie then you might as well bring it

I'm a beginner surfer - is this program good for me?
Yes - the closet beach is great for beginners. Many of the students here haven't surfed before. and they have an awesome time!

Where should I stay - home stay or ...?
We always recommend to Home Stay with one of the local families. Its the best way to get immersed in another culture .. plus they are such cool families!
