Montanita!
Montanita is the name on the lips of those
travelling in Ecuador. It is by far the most sort after coastal/beach
destination.
Our School:
Montanita Spanish school is located right on the beach! Our classes overlook
the beach, and the stunning waves that have made Montanita famous! We are
just 1 minute from the restaurants, and 15 seconds from the sand!

Your school right ON the
beach!
Montanita
Montanita has only been discovered by travellers in the last 10 years.
Originally a 'hippy' settlement, it still has that funky bohemia feel
to it. It is small and compact, yet packed with cafes, restaurants and bars
- almost all done in native bamboo style. It is definitely NOT a
traditional resort style town!
The two main road were only cemented a few years ago, and the other road are
still sand. It is a centre for arts and crafts, with many local handicraft
available. At night Montanita comes even more alive, with he beat of the
Latino music everywhere. Everyone walks in Montanita, there is almost no
traffic! Truly a unique place, and unique experience.
Montanita borders it famous beach of the same name.
White, fine sand, and fantastic surf. Travellers come from all over the
world to sample the waves, and to just relax on the beach sipping a 'ceverza'
Surrounding areas.
Los Frailes
Viewed by many as the most beautiful beach in Ecuador, and some would argue
the world! Yet, on either side of Montanita there is some 30 miles (50km!)
of beaches, so there is a huge number to visit and explore. Many are almost
deserted, there are no crowds here!
Agua Blanca
an extremely important archaeological site just north of Montanita. A
UNESCO site
Puerto Lopez
A vibrant small town, and often the start point for tours Whale watching and
also to Isla Del Plata. Worth a visit in its own right
Isla Del Plata
A jewel in the crown. Many guides books call this 'the poor mans Galapagos',
because unlike Galapagos it is inexpensive to visit. This is a must for your
time, to view red and blue footed boobies up close and personal, as well as
the multiple of other wildlife.
Local Villages.
Both to the north and south of Montanita is a large number of different
Ecuadorian villages to visit. Just a 5 minutes bus ride to the south is
Manglaralto, and to the north is a favourite, Aympa
