Surfing Costa Rica!

If surfing is your passion - or you really want to learn to surf - you have come to the right place!

Surfing started here in the 70's when pioneers from California, Australia, and Europe found empty beachbreaks, points, and reef breaks. They told their friends, set up camp, taught the locals to surf and make boards, and the rest is history.

There are four major areas for surfing- North Pacific, Central Pacific, South Pacific, and Caribbean Coast. A huge advantage of  Costa Rica is that it is a relatively small country, so if the breaks aren't happening in one area - then they normally are someone else. Costa Rica is the ideal location for a surfing vacation!

We are located in the centre of the Pacific Central area (Puerto Quepos - see map below). In the central pacific region waves can be found year round. There is a large number of breaks all within a hour suitable for ALL level of surfing. Some we just have to walk to - others can be accessed by an excellent and cheap (often only 50 cents!) bus system. Our surf instructors also run weekend trips to more distant breaks.

Quespos is so central to many good breaks. This is its huge advantage. No matter what your level -its not far away! Variety is the 'spice of life'

We have a surf beach, Boco Quepos, right in the centre o Quespos, and others very close. Boca Damas is just 1 mile to the north.  Playita is just 10 minutes to the south, and the wild and remote Playa de Rey (right and left beach break ) just 6 miles away. Playa Mataplo is 12 miles to the south and a similar distance to the north is Eserillos este, Esterillos oeste, and Bejuco. Playa Hermosa with its reputation (most popular break in Costa Rica) for very strong breaks is just 20 miles to the north. And a similar distance to the south and you are at excellent Playas Dominical.  Boca Barranca (near Puntarenas), is a left that goes 800 yards with a good south swell!
